Tanjung Benoa is a promontory stretching from Nusa Dua into the sea; it appears isolated at the tip of the peninsula. Now there are luxury hotels, restaurants, and various tourist and water sports centers.

It is approximately within 10 minutes from Nusa Dua tourist area. This area is good for a dive course and a general introductory dive for a beginner. It has a great variety of corals, fish and sea plants that will surprise any diver; with slight water current at a maximum depth of 20 meters you will see colorful coral fishes, gigantic table coral, grown soft corals and a variety of nudibranchs in the reef.

Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida Island is one the most popular destinations for cruising (swimming) and the best dive site in Bali. It offers sparkling clear water, very healthy coral and abundant fish life, including large pelagic fish. At worst, the roaring water current may carry you so fast that you will not have much time to appreciate these charms. There are three islands that are the best dive sites. These islands have several famous dive sites with their own character. A strong but predictable water current can be expected at any time. On this dive site you have a chance of seeing turtles, sharks, manta, swarms of coral fishes and you may be lucky to see Mola Mola (sunfish) in July – November.

Gili Tepekong & Gili Mimpang

The Balinese call Tepekong the Goat Island because long time ago some goats were seen on this island. Long time ago the Bali's highest mount Agung was erupted and brought a big rocky, steep-sided island. Just over a kilometer northwest of Tepekong there is Gili Mimpang, a small archipelago of four big rocks and another half-dozen smaller ones. Gili Tepekong & Gili Mimpang are the most famous places because of sharks; it is also the most difficult to dive, but canyons are also the most dramatic underwater structures. Gili Mimpang is perhaps the most reliable place in Bali to see sharks and the southernmost extent of this reef, though small, is now one of the most beautiful reefs in all of Indonesia.

Amed

Here is a romantic place for holiday, a nice black sandy beach with hospitable people. It is located about 110 kilometers northeast of Bali. A beach or boat dive starts with gentle slope from 7 meters wall that drop off to 40 meters. Here you will see a myriad of soft corals and fishes.

However, is there still a great day? You will have an incredible dive if you know where to see straight ahead a giant trevally, a napoleon, eagle rays, big tuna, and hump head wrasse parrot fish, a school of sting rays, black and white tip reef sharks, gorgonians and pygmy seahorses.

Tulamben

Tulamben is a small village in the eastern part of Bali. In 1963 the Bali’s highest mount Agung was erupted, showering whole villages with ash and sending a lot of lava, creating powerful earthquake that rolled the Liberty ship into the deeper water and it was broken at the bow and stern. Now it is the most famous diving area in Bali and it attracts divers from all over the world. It is wonderful place to learn about the underwater life. You can come here with a good underwater field guide and over the course of a week’s diving find most of the animals listed just by exploring the wreck, the patch reef in front of the resorts and the wall.

The main attraction is the wreck of the USS Liberty ship, which is famous for the amazing variety of marine life found there. This is a must-dive site in Bali and a photographers' paradise. Other sites include a great drop-off, a shallow coral garden, and a deep coral reef. Tulamben is the best place for night dives in Bali and, being on the East coast, you can take an unforgettable sunrise dive. The reefs are so healthy that they reward at any scale: from a distance, you’ll see the huge school of big-eye jacks swirling across the wreck like a great silver storm cloud, a barracuda, a wrasse napoleon, and hump head parrot fish, closer you can see mops of black coral and bright sponges and a little sharp-nosed puffers fish, still nearer you can see very tiny pygmy seahorses hang on to gorgonians, scorpion fish tucked in among the rusted decking, fields of garden eels, a comet fish, gobies, moray eels, butterfly fish, and finally, using your mask at the bottom you can see ghost pipe fishes, crab, anglerfish, leaf scorpion fish, and nudibranchs.

Puri Jati

Puri Jati is located in the north part of Bali, exactly in the district Singaraja. Generally we dive from the beach and there are not much corals in this place even if we dive deeper; muddy water makes this place a shelter for small fishes, such as seahorses, octopus and nudibranchs, so this place is very nice for diving of photographers who like macro photography.

Pemuteran

Pemuteran is a village in the west of the island, this village is famous for its Biorock which stimulates coral growth spurt; they use a technology based on alloys of iron with a low voltage electric current.

To see the beauty of Biorock we can start from the beach and we can meet various types of nudibranchs in the deep.

Menjangan Island

Menjangan means “deer”; it is a part of the west Bali National Park with about 3 km2 wide. It became the first recognized dive destination in 1978 because of the Indonesian Navy, including a group of the nation’s pioneer diving clubs in Bali. It is located at northwest of Bali, 160 km from Denpasar. Menjangan is one of the most prospective dive sites in Bali; there is the greatest dive site to see gorgonians of any area in Bali.

It is the best place for wall diving in Bali with a very bright and colorful underwater world. There are a lot of different sites that you can choose, including a wooden shipwreck starting at a depth of 35 m.

You can find here a rich marine life and sandy beach to relax over lunch. You can dive and see pygmy seahorses, whale sharks, garden eels, a lion fish, a barracuda, a cuttlefish, squid, turtles, and eagle rays.

Secret Bay

Gilimanuk bay is a narrow strait for ferry to and from Java. A potential dive site is situated 500 meters down to the east. The operator who is trying to make Gilimanuk bay a kind of private pond shall remain nameless here, because he is far from being alone in this kind of attempts. In any case, it seems almost laughable to call this bay a “secret”.

It is one of the best dive sites for photography under water. Secret bay is about 2 km wide and shallow. There are not much corals to see, but fish are extremely healthy and some rare macro photography is possible.
